A 12-year-old boy is home safe in Colorado after a whirlwind trip to the North State, which included climbing Mt. Shasta to help spread awareness for liver disease.

Kendell McGuffey climbed Mt. Shasta last weekend to help spread awareness for liver disease, an illness his mother contracted during a blood transfusion 25 years ago.

Kendell was hoping to make it to the top, but had to stop at 11,000 feet due to altitude sickness. Despite the hiccup, team still managed to raise more than $8,000.

Next up is a mountain in Colorado.
