The 10th Annual Growing Healthy Children Walk & Run will take place Saturday, April 16th starting at the 1 Mile Recreation Area in Chico's lower Bidwell Park.
The goal is to encourage families to get out and get active. It is a free event, offered to families from throughout Butte County and beyond... in an effort to motivate families to enjoy the outdoors, be active and have fun.
The non-competitive one mile or 5k run/walk kicks off at 8:30 a.m. Saturday. Registration packets can be picked up at Fleet Feet, 241 Main Street in Downtown Chico, or day of the event starting at 7 a.m.
Following the walk/run there will be an interactive health fair offered with entertainment and prize drawings. Four bicycles donated by Pullins Cyclery will be included in the drawing, along with bicycle helmets. Several booths will offer food tastings and share healthy recipes, there will be games, and a number of demonstrations by dance troupes and fitness groups, including a karate demonstration.
