Chico Police now say the motorcyclist involved in the accident that shut down the Esplanade this evening has died.
Police identified the rider as 30-year-old Ronnie Smith of Chico.
The accident happened right around four Thursday evening on the Esplanade near East Lassen Avenue.
According to police 85-year-old Maxine Landers didn't see Smith and turned her minivan left in front of him.
Smith was thrown from his bike and under the minivan.
He was taken to the hospital where he later died.
Landers was also taken to the hospital with complaints of pain.
The Esplanade was finally opened back up around 8:30 this evening.
Police are still investigating the crash but to determine who is at fault.
They don't believe drugs or alcohol were a factor.
