Just before 4 p.m. yesterday, a brown Dodge pickup with a single occupant was traveling southbound on SR 70 approaching Saddleback Road. At the same time, a Chevrolet Silverado with three occupants was traveling northbound approaching Saddleback Road. For reasons yet to be determined, The Dodge pickup entered the northbound lane directly into the path of the Silverado. As a result both vehicles collided head-on. Both drivers of the vehicles were killed in the collision. The passengers of the Silverado were transported by bi-county ambulance to Rideout Emergency Room with major injuries. The occupants of the Silverado were wearing seatbelts, but the driver of the Dodge was not wearing his lap belt. The accident is still under investigation and it is unknown if drugs or alcohol remain a factor. Any witnesses to the collision are encouraged to call 530-674-5141 with any information.
