Last night at approximately 8:30 p.m., the Glenn County Sheriff's department responded to a call of a missing 2-year-old male in the Bayliss area of Glenn County. The mother of the child, Bambi Ramirez, reported her son missing from the rural residence. The residence is located on County Road VV in rural Glenn County. The Deputies determined the child somehow left the residence unnoticed. Glenn County Sheriff's Search and Rescue teams and the Bayliss Fire Department arrived to search the immediate area for the child, which is surrounded by flooded rice fields and irrigation ditches.

About an hour after their search began, the child was located in an irrigation ditch across the street from the residence. Sheriff deputies stated the ditch had approximately four feet of murky water in it. After the irrigation ditch was opened, the child was located and life-saving measures were initiated. Ambulance personnel arrived at the scene and determined the young boy was dead.

An autopsy will be requested to determine the cause of death, but the boy has been identified as Jonathan Raul Perez, born 08/12/2010. The mother was at the residence and was notified of the death of her son.

The case is still under investigation.
