A firefighter was injured in a fall from a ladder fighting a mill fire in Quincy Wednesday.
It started in the Sierra Pacific Mill's co-generation substation at about 12:30 p.m.
Thick smoke poured from the building when the first fire crews arrived on the scene, and workers were sent home from the day.
Power had to be shut off to a number of customers in Quincy, Meadow Valley and Crescent Mills for about an hour so firefighters could battle the blaze.
There is no word on the extent of the damage or whether the mill will reopen Thursday.
The substation provides power to the mill.
Meanwhile, the firefighter who broke his ankle is expected to make a full recovery.##
