A scary start to the 4th of July holiday for a clerk at a Corning gas station who was reportedly assaulted early this morning. It happened just before 1:30 a.m. at the Shell station on Solano street. Police say two men wearing masks approached Timothy Rangel while he was standing outside the store. One of the suspects punched Rangel several times in the head before both men took off on foot. Police say the men didn't try to steal anything. Rangel was taken to the hospital for his injuries. If you have any information about the attack, you're asked to call Corning Police.
