The former Butte County Sheriff's deputy, convicted of soliciting a minor for sex was sentenced Wednesday to three years eight months in state prison. Earl Klapperich was arrested in May of 2012 in a sting operation involving an undercover officer impersonating a 14-year-old girl through text messaging.
Klapperich was an active deputy at the time the crime was committed but was fired after his arrest. He was convicted last august on two counts of soliciting a minor as well as possession of child porn. With time served Klapperich could be eligible for parole in May of next year.
