Friday afternoon around 2:45pm, Chico police responded to a stabbing on East 1st Avenue.  They say a man was asked by a transient for money.  And when he said he didn't have any, the transient allegedly stabbed the victim several times.  The victim went to a nearby home and pounded on the door, asking the resident to call 911.  Tiffany Doolittle says she was at home.  Her young daughter was taking a nap, and she was holding her baby on her hip.  She answered the door and saw the man standing on her porch, covered with blood.  She called 911, and says the man walked away.  An ambulance arrived to take the victim to Enloe Medical Center where he was treated for "non-life threatening" stab wounds.  Police say they do not have reason to believe the victim and the suspect knew each other.  The suspect is still on the loose.
