Action News Now has received word from Rachel Athos, the Chico State student who encountered a mountain lion on the Yahi Trail last weekend, a USDA Wildlife Services Tracker found the body of her dog Lexi in Upper Bidwell Park last night. Athos says Lexi saved her and her roommate’s lives by putting herself between them and the mountain lion. Athos also said the Wildlife Tracker told her he too came to the same conclusion. The tracker returned Lexi’s collar to Athos. Lexi has been buried in Upper Park with a small rock formation in remembrance.
