Darren joined the Action News Now team in February of 2016, serving as the weekend meteorologist and a multi-media journalist.
Darren was born and raised in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. He is a diehard Blackhawks, White Sox and Bears fan.
Before moving to Northern California, Darren lived in the Black Hills of South Dakota where he worked at the local FOX affiliate from 2011-2016. The Black Hills offered a very unique forecasting situation; you could see 3" of snow one day and then 70° temperatures the next day. One of his most memorable experiences was the October Blizzard of 2013. Snow started falling on October 3rd and continued through October 5th. Darren was stuck in his apartment for 2 days by more than 30" of snow.
Darren graduated from Eastern Illinois University with a B.S. in Geography and minors in Broadcast Meteorology, Communications and Earth Science. In college, he prepared weather forecasts for WEIU, the local PBS affiliate. Darren also played lacrosse for the university's club team.
When Darren isn't working, you can probably find him on a lacrosse field, a golf course, out on a walk with his Welsh Corgi, Yoda, or spending time with his wife Shauna.
You can reach Darren on Facebook, Twitter, or send him an email.
