The Chico State softball season gets underway in less than a week.

The Lady Wildcats have been hard at work practicing for the new campaign.

Head Coach Angel Shamblain enters her eighth year on the job and she'll try to do something no one has done in the fifty years of Chico State softball, and that's bring a team to the postseason for four consecutive seasons.

Shamblain has a good chance to make it happen. The 'Cats return six starters including reigning CCAA Pitcher of the Year Haley Gilham from a squad that went 39-18 (25-13) and advanced all the way to the NCAA West Sub-Regional championship series.

Chico State enters the season ranked No. 21 in the 2018 NFCA Preseason Coaches Poll.
