Latest on 57,000-Acre Fire Delta Fire
The Delta Fire is 17 percent contained at more than 57,000 acres. All lanes of Interstate 5 north of Redding are open with some traffic control in place. Some mandatory evacuations have been lifted.

6 Killed in Bakersfield Mass Shooting
Police in Bakersfield are investigating a mass shooting Thursday night. A gunman reportedly shot his wife and four other people before turning the gun on himself. Their identities have not yet been released.

New Chico Filtration System to Capture Trash
Chico Public Works plans to install a new filtration system to capture trash in storm drains. If all goes as planned, the new systems could be installed as early as 2020.

Indoor Cannabis Grower Gets Green Light in Redding
The Redding Planning Commission has approved the city’s first commercial marijuana grow operation. “Pinnacle Cultivators” will open on Innsbruck Drive in east Redding. In October, the commission is scheduled to hear the appeal for a dispensary planning to open near the Good News Rescue Mission.

Update on School Resource Officers at Chico Unified
It has been a month since Chico Unified High Schools have had a Chico Police Officer on campus every day. The six officers are not only keeping kids safe but making sure they respect each other and guiding them in the right direction.
