Marijuana dispensaries in the City of Shasta Lake reported a boom in customers as recreational sales became legal January 1, 2018.
Staff at 530 Cannabis reported having lines of customers throughout the day Monday and Tuesday.
General Manager Dalton Boecking said staff served about 350 customers Monday.
It was one of their busiest days ever, second only to their eight-year anniversary celebration last year when they served 390 customers.
“Our first day of recreational sales went really well,” Boecking said. “We saw just over 300 people. Most are recreational people coming for the first time that we've not seen before, but we did also see about 25 percent of returning patients. But overall, a lot of people who haven't had their cannabis recommendations before and were coming in for the first time were seen yesterday.”
Staff at Leave it to Nature said they were actually busier Tuesday than they were Monday.
Boecking says there's no telling what the future will hold.
But he eventually expects crowds to level out getting steadily busy, not crazy like they’ve been.
