The city of Oroville is planning on suing the Department of Water Resources for damages sustained as a result of the failure of the Oroville Dam spillway last year.

The City Attorney, Scott Huber, has confirmed that the city is filing a complaint lawuit against the state. The city will host a press conference regarding its lawsuit Wednesday at 1 p.m.

The lawsuit states that the dam's spillway failure damaged the city's roads and infrastructure, thereby causing the city substantial costs to evacuate its citizens.

The suit also says the crisis has been a heavy blow to the city's economy and tax base.

We'll be covering the press conference Wednesday in front of the Oroville Courthouse. Stay with Action News Now as we follow this developing story.
