CHICO, Calif.—One man was arrested in south Chico Friday afternoon after a situation unfolded at a gas station on Forest Avenue.

Police were called out to the Sinclair Gas Station next to Walmart around 2 p.m. Friday afternoon.

Police say 42 year old Christopher Chau displayed what appeared to be a handgun in a cardboard box, then went to the restroom and refused to leave.

No one was threatened, but the police evacuated the business.

An employee told Action News Now that a man who appeared to be a transient had a weapon and locked himself in the bathroom.

Chau who police described as a transient was eventually convinced to come out of the bathroom and was arrested for trespassing, and for two misdemeanor warrants.

Investigators say the gun he had turned out to be an automatic style BB gun.
