Fifth-year senior Sean Park scored a game-high 19 points, all in the first half, as the Wildcats pounced on the Hawks and secured a big season opening win, 75-43.

Chico State buried seven 3's on the day, and Nate Appel led the Wildcats' 43-20 domination of the glass with eight rebounds. But perhaps the most impressive stat was defensive field goal percentage, Chico State held Holy Names to just 16-of-51 shooting, a paltry 31.4%.

Chico State is back in action next Saturday in Turlock for its California Collegiate Athletic Association opener against Cal State Stanislaus. Tipoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
