In our latest Subway Scholar Athlete of the Week we introduce you to a Pleasant Valley Viking who's high school sports career has been a chaotic journey from Chico to Colorado and back.
For Pleasant Valley senior Brittany Younan, the last couple years have been a whirlwind.
"It's been pretty crazy, I moved to Colorado my sophomore year, my dad got a job there, I missed Chico too much, came back finish off senior year and graduate with my class here. It was one of the best decisions I've ever made, I love every second of it," said Younan.
In turn, the Vikings love having her back.
Not only is Younan is a great student with a 3.8 GPA, but she's also a key member on the Vikings varsity basketball team.
After moving home on Dec. 30th, Younan joined the team one day after five girls quit.
Since then, the sharpshooter has become the team's 2nd leading scorer while guiding the Vikings to an EAL league title.
What makes Younan's story even more remarkable is that basketball isn't her top sport. That would be softball.
During her time in Colorado, she made the all-state team twice, hit .550 as a senior and and earned a scholarship to play at Boston University.
"It's pretty cool to have that much success. I had a great coaching staff and a great team, so it made it easier for me," said Younan.
Next up, a chance to capture a basketball section title at a school she loves to attend.
"It's kind of like a dream, everything has been amazing," said Younan
