Chico's own Emily Azevedo did not make the U.S. Olympic bobsled team, officials announced on Sunday.

American track and field star Lolo Jones, Aja Evans, and Lauryn Williams were selected as the brakeman/push athletes.

Those three join pilots Elana Meyers, Jamie Greubel and Jazmine Fenlator for the Sochi Olympics in February.

It was a difficult decision for U.S. bobsled officials, who had a deep and talented field from which to choose.

It was also a decision that they might receive scrutiny over.

Azevedo, unlike Jones has Olympic bobsled experience after participating in the 2010 Games.

Now, U.S. bobsled officials did not name the women's alternate push athlete, so perhaps there's still a glimmer of hope for Azevedo.

We'll keep you posted.
