Firefighters had to use the jaws of life to free a woman from of her car after a high speed collision in Chico's South Campus area. The accident happened just after 9:30 this morning on Eighth and Ivy Streets. Police say the female driver of a Volkswagen was driving south on Ivy when she entered the intersection and was broadsided by a Ford truck. The driver of the Volkswagen was initially trapped and had to be cut out of her car. She was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries. The driver of the truck was not hurt. Police are investigating who was at fault and whether the driver of the truck was speeding.
