Four male minors are in Tehama County Juvenile Hall after attacking an 18-year-old Red Bluff woman with their fists and a hammer.

The battery happened early Saturday morning on the Red Bluff High School football field; and because of language used, police are considering it a hate crime.

“The female who was attacked, there were derogatory comments made about her skin color and her race,” said Red Bluff Police Department Sgt. Quintan  Ortega.

The woman was walking with a 16-year-old female who was also battered by the group.

Because the accused are minors, their names and photographs have not been released.

Police did tell us they range in age from 15 to 17 years old and that they all are from Red Bluff.  Three of them are accused of battery and one is charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
