The chain of events from last night's robbery happened in just a matter of minutes, ending with the suspects behind bars. It was reported shortly after 5 p.m. at the North Valley Bank on Deschutes Road. Sheriff's officials say a man walked into the bank and handed one of the tellers a note saying it was a robbery and that if she didn't comply he would shoot her. The suspect took off and got into a grey Nissan truck after grabbing an undisclosed amount of cash. Within 15 minutes of the robbery authorities spotted the Nissan pickup and made a traffic stop at Daysha Way and Old Alturas Road in Redding. The passenger gave a false name, but was later identified as Michael Sexton. Bank employees later arrived and positively identified Sexton as the suspect. During a search of the truck deputies also found a large sum of money under his seat. Sexton, along with the driver, Brian Songer, were both arrested and booked into the Shasta County Jail. No one was injured during the robbery and no weapon was ever located. It was later discovered that Sexton was also wanted for fraud by the U.S. Marshal's Office.
