Union Pacific Train Derails In Dunsmuir

(UPDATE) 9:50 a.m.- Union Pacific Officials have just told Action News they expect to have the rail line open and operational around 4 p.m. today. The cause of the derailment is still under investigation. 

A Union Pacific train moving through the Dunsmuir area Thursday night had 7 of its cars derail from the track.

A Union Pacific media representative said the train was carrying 80 cars when 7 of them derailed around 7 Thursday night.

She says the 7 cars, used to carry lumber, were empty at the time of the derailment.

She also says there were no injuries and the river was not impacted.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
