Shasta County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating after a teen was accidentally shot while learning to use a gun.
It happened right around 8:30 Thursday night on Beaver Road and Highway 44 in Millville.
Authorities say a family friend was teaching the 16-year-old how to handle the weapon, when the boy was accidentally shot in the stomach.
The two were reportedly using a handgun they thought was unloaded.
The boy was taken to mercy medical center.
There's no word on how he's doing.
For now, The family friend, who's in his 40s, has not been arrested but he could face charges of felony child endangerment and negligent discharge of a firearm.
