Suspect Killed in Standoff with Police in Anderson

(UPDATE) 10:39 a.m.- The suspect in a standoff and officer involved shooting at an apartment complex in Anderson has been killed, according to officers at the scene. The suspect reportedly fired upon officers first, then was killed when officers returned fire. More info on Action News Now at Noon.

(UPDATE) 9:25 a.m.-
Our photographer has reported hearing several gunshots at the scene of a standoff at an apartment complex on 3195 Briarwood Drive in Anderson minutes ago. Well will bring you further developments as they come in to the newsroom.        

North Street in Anderson is now closed between Riverside Ave. and Stingy Ln.
Authorities were called out to Rivergarden Apartments complex on Briarwood Drive in Anderson just before 6:30 a.m. this morning for a report of a man armed with a shotgun. Our crew on scene says there are around 10 visible officers with guns drawn. Our photographer on scene says possible shots were fired around 8:40 Wednesday morning and that police are calling for the suspect to come out with his hands up.  Police are advising people in the area to stay in their homes. We will bring you the latest information as soon as we get it.
