Seven engines from the Redding Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 4100 block of Cirrus Street just before noon Friday which originated in the garage. By time fire personnel arrived the house was fully involved.
Two occupants, a male and a female, were home at the time of the fire but escaped without serious injuries. The male occupant of the home suffered burns to his left hand and was treated to the scene. The fire was contained to the home and crews had a handle on the flames around 12:15 p.m.
Officials at the scene stated the fire burned roughly 50 percent of the home and considered it “a total loss”. Cirrus Street is expected to be blocked off until 2 p.m. this afternoon.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
