There's been a sudden spike in crime, and Chico Police are taking notice.  The department's crime analyst says crime in Chico has risen 26 percent in the first five months of 2013, compared with the first five months of 2012.   They say it takes years of research to get to the root of the cause of the spike, but several factors could be in play, including the economy, AB109, and the disbanding of the Chico Street Crimes and Gang Units.  The Gang Unit has been reassembled.
