A Shingletown man is behind bars after leading officers on a pursuit in a stolen car in Anderson overnight.

Anderson Police first noticed the stolen black Dodge Stratus before 1 a.m. Friday at the Safeway gas station on Balls Ferry Road.

A short pursuit began after the driver took off heading south on Locust Road... but the car came to a stop after the driver crashed into a stop sign at Locust and Kimberly.

The driver, identified as 18-year-old Royce Harrison, took off on foot but was caught by Shasta County K-9 Larus.

Harrison was arrested and booked into Shasta County Jail.

His male and female passengers were not arrested.

No one was injured in the pursuit.

Police returned the car to the owner just over 24 hours after she reported it missing.
