The number of out of town marijuana growers is on the rise in Butte County and that has law enforcement officials concerned. It's known as the green rush and District Attorney Mike Ramsey says the number of people moving to Northern California to grow marijuana is steadily increasing and that's a problem for many reasons. However Prop 215 allows people with a doctor's recommendation to possess and cultivate marijuana for personal medical use. Ramsey says many times illegal growers use Prop 215 as a cover. The cost of marijuana is also cheaper in California in comparison with other states. Ramsey says 90% of marijuana grows in Butte County are for non medicinal purposes, and law enforcement officials are cracking down on illegal marijuana grows.
