It was a scary night for guests at the Days Inn in Red Bluff where a man was threatening people with a handgun. Officers were called out around 4 p.m. Saturday to the Days Inn on Sutter Street. Someone reported that a man armed with a gun was yelling at motel guests in the parking lot below his room. The suspect, later identified as Benzie Cheney of Humboldt County, also called police and told them that he would shoot anyone who came to his door. Officers were able to calm cheney down, and he eventually agreed to surrender after being placed under citizen's arrest. He was then booked into the Tehama County Jail.
