At approximately 12:50 p.m. the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of an accident at Sidney Road and Canyon Road in Oroville, and a hit and run on Royal Oaks Drive.

Police found a black Ford Explorer had gone off of the road and rolled into a tree. Officers found a middle aged man trapped in his vehicle. The man was uninjured, but had to be extricated from the vehicle.

Officers learned that the man had been in another accident just before he rolled his explorer into a tree. Less than a quarter mile down the road, on Royal Oaks Drive the explorer had collided with a white pick-up truck, but continued to drive down the road despite the airbags having deployed.

According to witnesses at the scene, officers asked the man why he did not stop after hitting the white pick-up and he said did not want to get another DUI.

The man was arrested for suspicion of DUI and hit and run.
