Shortly before 3 Tuesday morning, an engineer on a southbound Amtrack train reported seeing a man sleeping near the railroad tracks between Oak and Willow Streets.

A police officer checked the area and found the man, identified as 25-year-old Derek Coltrain, from Red Bluff, lying near the east rail of the tracks.
