Man Killed By Union Pacific Train Identified

The Butte County Sheriff's Coroner's Office has confirmed the identity of the man killed by reportedly trying to run ahead of an oncoming train near West Sacramento Avenue early Sunday morning as 30-year-old Pedro Delatorre of Chico. An autopsy is currently scheduled by the County Coroner's office.

Around 3:00am Sunday morning, Chico Police received a call that a man had been seen by train personnel trying to run in front of the train as it approached the West Sacramento Avenue crossing.  He was hit, and his body was found nearby. The investigation remains ongoing.
