An autopsy for an individual fire fighters found in a burning pickup truck on Bass Pond Road Sunday has been scheduled for this Wednesday. The Shasta County Sheriff’s Department has ruled the death “suspicious” at this time.

Early Sunday morning Cal fire was dispatched to a grass fire on the 8800 block of Bass Pond Drive in Millville. When they arrived they found a pickup truck fully engulfed in flames. As they extinguished the blaze they found human remains in the bed of the truck.

Shasta County Sheriff Deputies were called to the scene and further confirmed there was “a badly burned human body within the bed of the pickup truck,” according to the department’s press release.

The area was processed as a crime scene due to the suspicious nature of the fire. The cause of the fire, along with the identity of the victim, remain unknown at this time.
