It was a smashing good time for those who came out to see the 26th annual Halloween Pumpkin Drop at Chico State. Hundreds of people gathered around Butte Hall today to see the falling pumpkins. The annual event is a reenactment of Galileo's legendary Tower of Pisa experiment. More than 25 pumpkins were dropped from 65 feet in the air. The pumpkins were filled with different things including feathers, water, and liquid nitrogen. Physics Professor Eric Ayars has been a part of the event for many years and says the event gets more exciting every year.
