STOCKHOLM (AP) - Scientists say a comet from the fringes of the solar system will have a close encounter with the sizzling sun today.

Comet ISON is expected to get closest to the sun at 1:37 p.m. Eastern Standard Time today.

And close means about 1 million miles away.

Scientists say the comet probably won't be visible from Earth except via a NASA telescope or spacecraft.
