Grand Opening for New Redding Veterans Home Friday

The California Department of Veterans Affairs will hold the Grand Opening Event and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for the new Veterans Home in Redding on Friday October 25th, 2013.
This event has been highly anticipated by the veterans and community leaders in Northern California.
It offers the public a chance to view the state-of-the-art facilities and participate in the historic opening and dedication.
The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. Friday.
The Veterans Home of California is located at 3400 Knighton Rd. in Redding.
Guest speakers at the Grand Opening Ceremony will include The Secretary Of Veterans Affairs Peter Gravett, Senator Jim Nielsen, Assemblyman Brian Dahle and retired Senator Maurice Johannessen.
There will be many Vintage style Military vehicles, helicopters, Bagpipe Band, ceremonial band, Members of the Patriot Guard and Missing in Action Project, Fire and emergency vehicles, a special National Anthem and a 2 plane formation flyover during the ceremony.
All branches of the Military will be involved along with the Naval Sea Cadets, Redding Police Department and the California Highway Patrol.
A Community Open House will also be held on the Saturday to allow the public an opportunity to tour the facilities and meet the staff.
There will be a Tri-Tip BBQ put on by the Asphalt Cowboys, a live radio broadcast and "Silverbridge" a local band performing on the event stage. ###
