An estimated 12,000 cars drive in the areas of Second and Flume streets in downtown Chico every day. Now all those drivers will have take alternate routes. As part of the downtown couplet project the city is closing down the intersection of First, Second and Flume streets during construction for a future roundabout. The idea of the couplet project is to improve traffic flow for cars, bikes and pedestrians. Motorists we spoke with say while it's an inconvenience they're supportive of the project. The streets will remain closed until July 26th. The entire couplet project won't be done until mid-August.
