Highway 99 was closed for most of the day south of Chico Friday because of an overturned big rig.
The crash happened just before midnight near Nelson Avenue .
CalTrans says the tractor-trailer hauling onions slammed into 50 feet of guardrail and took out a concrete head rail on a ditch crossing.
No one was injured.
The truck also took out some power and transmission lines.
The highway was shut down in both directions with detours in place at Highways 149 and 162.
Highway 99 was not expected to re-open until 3:00 p.m. ###
