An argument between a couple on I-5 in Tehama County leads to the death of a Washington man.

Around 8:00pm Thursday night, CHP officers received reports of a couple fighting along the side of I-5, just south of Liberal Avenue in Corning. Upon their arrival, officers found 28-year-old Shane Robertson of Federal Way, Washington dead in the northbound slow lane after he was hit by a white Chevy.

Authorities say for unknown reasons, Robertson and his girlfriend, 24-year-old Stacy Tognazzini of Eugene, Oregon, got into a verbal fight before he ran out into oncoming traffic. He was struck by a white 2011 Chevy HHR that was traveling around 70 miles per hour.

The driver of the Chevy was identified as 55-year-old Markal Johnson of Federal Way, Washington. Johnson immediately pulled over and waited for emergency personnel to arrive.

Further investigation showed that Robertson had been drinking beer, but his sobriety level is still unknown at this time.

No arrests have been made.
