The Humboldt County Sheriff's Office is investigating a church burglary. The Sheriff's Office was notified about 9:30 this morning of a burglary at the Community Presbyterian Church on Maple Lane in Garberville.
A deputy responded to the church and met with the Director of Stepping Stones Pre-School, who is also a member of the church. The director told the deputy someone broke into the church through a rear door. The suspects removed and broke panes of glass from the door, which allowed them to unlock it. Once inside, the suspects rummaged through the church and damaged church property. The locked doors to the Sanctuary had been pried open and damaged, along with another door near the Sanctuary.
The suspect or suspects stole a cash box which contained cash and checks that belonged to Stepping Stones Pre-School who leased space from the church. The burglary is believed to have occurred between 4:00 p.m. Thursday and 7:45 a.m. today.
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Humboldt County Sheriff's Office.
