Four Chico families are homeless after their apartment building went up in flames.
The blaze started right around seven Wednesday evening at a complex at 624 Rancheria Drive near Cedar Street.
Fire officials say the blaze was accidentally sparked by a resident frying fish.
The flames got into the fan above the stove and then into the attic, where they spread to neighboring units.
Four units were damaged but investigators are still trying to determine how extensively.
Fortunately, no one was hurt.
Fire officials say all of the families are getting help from the Red Cross.
