Big Rig Incidents Clog I-5 in Anderson

(UPDATE) 5:05 p.m.- Two separate big-rig incidents have brought traffic on the I-5 in Anderson to a crawl . A traffic collision near Riverside Avenue has reduced  traffic to one lane and two lanes are closed near the SR 273 interchange due to a big-rig fire. Traffic is being diverted at the SR 273 off ramp with no set time the roadway will reopen, according to CHP. The rig fire was first reported just after 4:15 p.m. this afternoon. 

(UPDATE) 3:55 p.m.- Cal Trans District 2- "In Shasta County, I-5, PM 6.5, NB #2 lane is open from 1 mile south of Riverside Drive at site of 2 seperate vehicle collisions."

CHP’s Traffic Incident Information Page has indicated that both northbound lanes of the I-5 near the Riverside Avenue off ramp are blocked due to a traffic collision. Initial reports only indicate minor injuries but traffic is reported to be backing up. The accident was first reported around 3 p.m. this afternoon.
