Elias Samuel Bullington, 26, was arrested by Yreka Police Officers yesterday for the murder of Henry S. Cooper. Cooper’s body was discovered near the 1000 block of Deer Creek Way along the Yreka Creek on July 9, 2013.
“I am very proud of the Yreka Police Department’s team effort on this case and we are very happy to be able to give Cooper’s family closure on this tragic event.”
Lieutenant Dave Gamache of the Yreka Police Department stated today Bullington was arrested in the Siskiyou County Jail yesterday. Gamache indicated Bullington has pending charges against him in a CHP case.
Cooper’s body was one of two found within a two-week span last July and three within a seven month period in the Yreka Creek. In those cases, the body found on July 17 was determined to have died by natural causes. The body found in November 2012, identified as Christopher Schafer, was ruled a homicide and that investigation is ongoing. The discovery of Cooper and the other body prompted a warning by the Yreka Police for citizens to stay out of the creek.
Additional information regarding Bullington’s arrest was not released by the department.
