The Butte County Sheriff’s Office has stated today the motive of an attempted robbery in which the suspect was shot and killed by the homeowner appears to be marijuana related.

At approximately 2 p.m. yesterday, the Sheriff’s Office received a report of a home invasion robbery at 6934 Upper Palermo Road in Palermo. Responding deputies found one of the homeowners had shot an intruder in the house.

Another suspect, described by the Sheriff's Office as a white adult female, fled the scene of the shooting in a silver, newer model Mercedes SUV.  The suspect who was shot in the house was transported to a local hospital where he later died. The deceased suspect has not yet been identified.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to contact the Butte County Sheriff’s Felony Investigations Unit at 530-538-7671.

We are awaiting a phone call back from the Sheriff's Office for further details.

Im sick and tired of this crap about marijuana.....I hate the crap...I hate it being around me..it stinks and I have allergies There used to be a neighbor near me who grew it..thank God he moved! I wish you people who grow it will go away....leave us alone. Youre nothing but trouble You don't need to grow it..if its for medical use..let PHARMACIES do it..you dont make aspirin for the pharmacies or doctors..then you shouldnt grow the weed either. IM sick of people making excuses to grow it
