Lieutenant Jeff Wallace of the Redding Police Department has stated today they are investigating the death of 21-year-old Thomas Sladeck as a drug-deal robbery which turned into a homicide.

“We believe all three suspects we have arrested worked in concert to commit this crime and were present at the time of the murder,” said Wallace.

The Redding Police Department has three suspects in custody for the murder of Sladeck which occurred around 7 p.m. Sunday night. Those three suspects have been identified as 20-year-old Logan Jackson Barnhart, 18-year-old Dillon Sims and 17-year-old Raquan Matthews. Barhhardt was arrested yesterday afternoon at a residence on the 2900 block of Newbury Lane. During an interview with investigators, Barnhart allegedly gave information to investigators pointing to Sims and Matthews as the other suspects involved in Sladeck’s death.

Both Sims and Matthews turned themselves in to the Redding Police Department early last night.

Sladeck was found in his car on the 2300 block of Saturn Skyway Sunday evening after suffering gunshot wounds near Alta Mesa Park, According to police official investigators state Sladeck was in his car near the park when the suspects approached him and engaged in either a conversation or argument before shooting Sladeck.  He was transported to Mercy Medical Center where he subsequently succumbed to his wounds.

Lt. Wallace indicated today that two of the suspects provided further evidence and a third suspect reportedly provided more information about the crime to investigators, But Wallace could not give out specifics at this time. The department continues to investigate the homicide and will continue to gather witness statements this week.

Sims and Barnhardt have been booked into the Shasta County Jail on charges of conspiracy, attempted robbery, and murder. Matthews was placed into the Shasta County Juvenile Hall for the same charges.  Sims and Barnhardt have bails set at $1,000,000 and Matthews doesn’t have a bail amount because he is a juvenile.
