A local PG&E representative says those in the north state will see fairer and more predictable utility bills soon.
That's because Governor Jerry Brown signed AB 327 into law yesterday.
The law allows the California Public Utilities Commission to restructure utility rates.
Right now PG&E customers pay in four "tiers" based on their energy usage.
The higher the tier reached, the sharp incline in price.
“So the change will allow fewer tiers and less disparity between those tiers to make it fairer to our electric customers,” said Paul Moreno, a communications rep with PG&E.
Moreno said the law will not penalize low-income customers.
