Tehama County Secret Witness is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction in the homicide of Eugene Morgan who was found murdered near Lake Avenue in October 2006 in Red Bluff.
On October 28, 2006, 36-year-old Eugene Morgan was in a coma in a wooded area north of Lake Avenue near the Sacramento River in Red Bluff. He later succumbed to his injuries. Morgan, a transient in the area, was found with what the Red Bluff Police Department described as “severe injuries to his head and face as a result of a brutal physical attack.”
During the investigation, detectives followed numerous leads and multiple people were interviewed. From those leads two main suspects were initially identified for being responsible for the attack. Further investigation also led officers to believe other persons were either present or were located in the vicinity at the time of the attack. Despite these leads, no evidentiary information could be obtained from these individuals and there has not been enough evidence to file criminal charges against either suspect.
Morgan was part of the local transient community which frequently associates with each other, the department’s press release said today. The department also speculated that based on these circumstances, there are potentially individuals who were wither present at the attack or have incriminating information that would break open the case.
If anyone has any information in regards to this investigation, you are urged to contact Detective Brett McAllister of the Red Bluff Police Department at 527-3131 or contact the Tehama County Secret Witness at 529-1268.
