Action News Weekend Sports Anchor Ross Field was born and raised in Sebastopol, California, where he spent most of his time playing sports. Ross came to Chico in 2001 to pursue an education at Chico State and in 2006, Ross got his degree with an emphasis in Communication Design.
Ross joined the Action News team as a production assistant in August 2006. During his breaks and days off, he would constantly bug the sports department to teach him about what they do and to let him go shoot various sports around town. Sure enough, when a job opened up in the department he quickly jumped on board and has been riding the wave ever since.
Ross brings a relentless enthusiasm for sports coverage to his job. So far, his most memorable moments consist of reporting on local high school, college and professional teams and athletes, attending 49ers and Raiders training camps, and providing in-depth coverage of Chico native and Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and his climb to stardom in the NFL.
Other than sports, Ross also reports news. He says working in multiple departments is beneficial because it allows him to be a more versatile reporter.
In his free time Ross likes being with family and hanging out with friends.
